1. "The thing is that you don’t meet someone until you do … and the older we get, the harder it is. And maybe not all of us will meet someone.”

    Girls In White Dresses

If you are a girl in your twenties you must read this book. It follows the path of a group of friends who are all going through their twenties. There is so much to this book that is astonishing relatable weather it’s you or someone you know. I absolutely loved it I read it in about a day it’s quick and easy and completely worth it.

  2. "What is an adventure? That depends on where you are starting from. Little girls in your country, they hide in the gap between the washing machine and the refrigerator and they make believe they are in the jungle, with green snakes and monkeys all around them. Me and my sister, we used to hide in a gap in the jungle, with green snakes and monkeys all around us, and make believe that we had a washing machine and a refrigerator. You live in a world of machines and you dream off things with beating hearts. We dream of machines, because we see where beating hearts have left us.” -Chris Cleave, Little Bee"

I don’t want to give away too much of this book, but I will tell you this, it’s amazing and it will stay with you forever. It is about a woman running from Africa to the only other people she knows, a family that she came across on the beaches of Africa, who witnessed one of the most horrific events any person could bear. It really opened my eyes to immigration, the hardships in Africa, and how impossible it is to escape.

  3. "…when I was angry at God because I couldn’t go to my son, hold him, and comfort him, God’s son was holding my son in his lap.” -Todd Burpo, Heaven Is For Real"

I have been hearing all the hype for this book for several months now and it had been siting in my room for a while, but I was not positive I would really connect with it. The thought of a child writing a book seemed hard to understand, and I’m a little bit of a pessimist when it comes to things like people swearing jesus is on their toasted bread.

But, I have to say, I was proved wrong with this book. The book is written from the father’s perspective and very believable. Being a preacher himself he is already very well spoken and good with words. I loved the fact that they never sat their child down and just said, “so tell us what you saw” but slowly put the pieces together. I read this book in a couple days. You could easily polish it off on a rainy day. Easy read and it is a great perspective. And Do I believe it? You bet!

  4. Here is it in all it’s glory, my summer reading list. Above is a picture of the books on my list I’ve accumulated from Half Price Books, but I am still searchings for others on my list. I won’t go into detail on what they are about, but I will after I read them along with my two cents on what I’ve thought. I’m not promising to finish them all this summer but I will sure put a dent in it!
